A Rising Tide Lifts All Boats?
A wild month with all nine companies in the index rising in value through October. That’s a stark cotrast to Google’s biggest drop in value coming last week.
There’s no simple answer why all stocks went up, since the stock indexes were mixed. NYSE was up 3.3% in October, while the Nasdaq was down nearly 6% month over month. And only MediaAlpha and LendingTree announced earnings before the end of October.
Notes on Methodology
For the final price on the month, I’m looking at the last price at the close of the market on the final weekday of the month. In this case, that would be Friday, October 30th.
Companies are only required to disclose the number of employees on the annual filing or 10-K. It is not required on quarterly reports (10-Q), so the data will generally have a bit of a lag. I use employee numbers for general analysis like revenue per employee, etc. Zillow also had a layoff in August of ~500 employees, which is not reflected in the tally as of 12/31/25.
Revenue is based on the full year 2025.
Job listings are based on company websites and may contain duplicates.
